Deleting Text in the Location Bar
Featured Publication It certainly sounds easy: delete some text in the location bar.   But why do the colours keep changing on me, and why does the internet address keep vanishing?   Learn and live.   There is a reason for that.
While the design of browsers is subject to constant revision in order to make them easier to use for a typical user, they are indeed complex and one can benefit from a little instruction.   A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, though, so be careful and take your time before proceeding.   Clicking once on the location bar causes it to be highlighted.   Any text entered at this point will cause the address to disappear, or will replace the highlighted text.   So click again.
On the other hand, if you click on the location bar, and for some reason the address does not become highlighted, first click in an open area of the browser and then the location bar to remedy this situation.   If the text is highlighted and you don't desire it to be highlighted, click again on the text itself.   You can drag the pointer over the text to be deleted, then press delete.   To activate the new address which has been revised by your deleting, press ENTER.
