For those who don't know, chatrooms are virtual rooms in cyberspace where strangers can meet, communicating using a computer keyboard.   Participants can't see or hear one another.   What harm could there be in it?
|
Not seeing or hearing one another means the people in chatrooms can't tell each others' sex or age just by saying hello.   Children in chatrooms can be exploited by pedophiles, who use superior emotional maturity and experience to wile the young ones into face-to-face meetings.

The language in chatrooms can be profane in the extreme, and rather than get involved with these conversations it is safer to seek out better company.   While meeting strangers from perhaps far away is exciting, we shouldn't forget the dangers even adults face in meeting in this way.
