In the Bible record we are told that at first Adam and Eve lived in a Paradise of Pleasure (Garden of Eden). Then, consistent with man's fall from grace, Adam and Eve were put out of the Paradise. From then on, life got more difficult, but God promised the woman a seed who would prevail over the wicked serpent, the one through whom the Devil had first tempted mankind.
From that point on, a struggle recurs throughout the Bible account, the fight of faithful servants of God to do what is right, despite the Devil's many attacks. Abel is murdered by Cain, but since there is no death penalty on account of there being no law at the time, God banishes Cain.
Later we see the account of the disobedient angels who came down and had sexual relations with the women on earth, leading to a race of mighty men and a great deal of violence on earth. Because of this, God brought a great flood and destroyed every living thing on land. This was the first rainfall ever, and was followed by the first rainbow, which God said was the sign that no flood waters would ever again bring destruction like this. The disobedient angels were not killed, but they were prevented from doing this again, so that they still exist in a spiritually debased state as the Devil's demons, sexual perverts who can do nothing but influence peoples' motives. The Bible promises that eventually these demons will be sent to a prison-like state or an abyss which will prevent their having even the slightest influence on anyone.
