Draft Version Proverbs 16 1The things of the heart are arrangings of man 1The fire of Jehovah replies 2A man is admiring his own secret plan 2Jehovah is testing the skies 3Your most artful works to Jehovah commit 3Your purpose will then be fullfilled 4Jehovah created it all and to wit 4For evil days evil is willed 5The prideful of purpose Jehovah abhors 5Though hand be to hand they will pay 6By mercy and truth is bad sent out of doors 6By fear of Jehovah we pray 7When any man's ways give Jehovah delight 7Then even his enemies see him as right 8A little with righteousness wins 8Not greater abundance with sins 9A man's earnest heart may determine his way 9But footsteps are straight from Jehovah they say 10God's word fills the lips of a king 10His judgment no error will bring 11A just set of scales to Jehovah belong 11And all the stone weights are his work for no wrong 12To kings all misdeed is disgrace 12In righteousness thrones find a place 13The lips that are righteous delight of a king 13And love him they do who will speak right a thing 14The wrath of a king will send death 14A wise man will calm with a breath 15The king garners life in the light of his face 15His will is a cloud of spring rain 16Oh better is wisdom than gold in its place 16And knowledge beats silver for gain 17The path of the upright departs from a wrong 17One watching his step stays alive 18Ahead of destruction do proud airs belong 18And haughty winds herald a dive 19So better it is to be lowly of mind 19Than share in a bounty of pride 20One dealing in wisdom a pleasure will find 20In joy will Jehovah abide 21The one wise in heart we will call wise and can 21By sweetness of lips make sly gain 22Success is a well-spring of life to a man 22While teaching of fools is in vain 23The heart of the wise as a guide will let know 23And brings understanding to bear 24So pleasant when words sweet as honeycomb flow 24As healing to bones under wear 25A way that seems right is before a man's face 25But death is its ultimate end 26In labours the soul of a man finds his space 26His mouth bids him effort expend 27A man who is worthless is digging up ill 27His lips are a festering fire 28A fraudulent fellow is sowing bad will 28A slanderer cuts up desire 29A violent man is enticing his friend 29Persuading his neighbour to stray 29He leads him to what is in fact no good end 29By what is in truth no good way 30One shutting his eyes is a schemer of bad 30And moving his lips he brings harm 31A crown of gray hair is a glory be glad 31For righteousness leads to a charm 32One suffering long will surpass one with clout 32So better than conquest refrain 33Though into the lap of a man it comes down 33The lot is Jehovah's domain © 2004 Ward Green. Proverbs 16 1 The plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah. Proverbs 16 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the spirits. Proverbs 16 3 Commit thy works unto Jehovah, And thy purposes shall be established. Proverbs 16 4 Jehovah hath made everything for its own end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Proverbs 16 5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah: [Though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Proverbs 16 6 By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for; And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil. Proverbs 16 7 When a man`s ways please Jehovah, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16 8 Better is a little, with righteousness, Than great revenues with injustice. Proverbs 16 9 A man`s heart deviseth his way; But Jehovah directeth his steps. Proverbs 16 10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; His mouth shall not transgress in judgment. Proverbs 16 11 A just balance and scales are Jehovah`s; All the weights of the bag are his work. Proverbs 16 12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; For the throne is established by righteousness. Proverbs 16 13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; And they love him that speaketh right. Proverbs 16 14 The wrath of a king is [as] messengers of death; But a wise man will pacify it. Proverbs 16 15 In the light of the king`s countenance is life; And his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain. Proverbs 16 16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver. Proverbs 16 17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Proverbs 16 18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16 19 Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 16 20 He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he. Proverbs 16 21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent; And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. Proverbs 16 22 Understanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it; But the correction of fools is [their] folly. Proverbs 16 23 The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips. Proverbs 16 24 Pleasant words are [as] a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Proverbs 16 25 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 16 26 The appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him; For his mouth urgeth him [thereto]. Proverbs 16 27 A worthless man deviseth mischief; And in his lips there is as a scorching fire. Proverbs 16 28 A perverse man scattereth abroad strife; And a whisperer separateth chief friends. Proverbs 16 29 A man of violence enticeth his neighbor, And leadeth him in a way that is not good. Proverbs 16 30 He that shutteth his eyes, [it is] to devise perverse things: He that compresseth his lips bringeth evil to pass. Proverbs 16 31 The hoary head is a crown of glory; It shall be found in the way of righteousness. Proverbs 16 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city. Proverbs 16 33 The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah. |
