Draft Version Proverbs 19 1The poor one who walks as contented is blessed 1A fool is contorted and loosely expressed 2A soul without knowledge will not be as glad 2And one wearing blinders commits what is bad 3The folly of man truly tortures his way 3His rage at Jehovah does lead him astray 4While riches do multiply friends to one's ken 4The poor man is severed from his fellow men 5An untruthful witness will not remain free 5And one speaking lies remains bound by decree 6A multitude prays for a willing man's grace 6As any good gift will befriend a whole race 7The one that is poor all his brothers do hate 7And so do to him his friends much less relate 7He keeps on pursuing the right words to say 7But they have abandoned him fled right away 8The getter of wisdom is loving his mind 8One guarding his wit surely goodness will find 9An untruthful witness shall not remain free 9And one speaking lies will have nowhere to flee 10A luxury seems for a fool hardly right 10Much less for a servant to bear royal might 11The sense of a man is to temper his wrath 11His glory it is to avoid a wrong path 12A lion's own roar is the wrath of a king 12His favour like dew on the grass glistening 13A son who is foolish his father does trip 13A wife's endless brawling goes drip-drip drip-drip 14A household and riches are fathers' bequest 14A wife who is wise from Jehovah is best 15As laziness puts one to sleep by its mood 15The soul who is idle will want after food 16One guarding the law is preserving his breath 16But he who is hating his life will see death 17One lends to Jehovah as poorfolk relieves 17Jehovah will pay it back as he believes 18Enlighten your son while a hope yet exists 18While to his destruction his heart yet resists 19A man of great anger relief may implore 19But if you would save him you'll do it once more 20So listen to counsel and take good advice 20That you may be wise and your future as nice 21Though many devices a man may contrive 21Jehovah's instruction is what will survive 22Desire of a man is his fondest good deed 22He's worse when he's lying and better in need 23The fear of Jehovah is making one glad 23His heart is well-pleased and will not turn to bad 24The lazy is hiding his hand in a dish 24And to his own mouth he does not bring a wish 25When one strikes a scoffer the simple take care 25Advising the wise helps to make them aware 26A father to ravage a mother to chase 26A son to cause shame is to honour debase 27To cease from instruction my son is to say 27By wise speech be guided and not led astray 28An ungodly witness a verdict may scorn 28The mouth of the wicked for trouble is born 29Firm sentence for scoffers is what one invokes 29So just for the back of the stupid ones strokes © 2004 Ward Green. Proverbs 19 1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity Than he that is perverse in his lips and is a fool. Proverbs 19 2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; And he that hasteth with his feet sinneth. Proverbs 19 3 The foolishness of man subverteth his way; And his heart fretteth against Jehovah. Proverbs 19 4 Wealth addeth many friends; But the poor is separated from his friend. Proverbs 19 5 A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall not escape. Proverbs 19 6 Many will entreat the favor of the liberal man; And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. Proverbs 19 7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: How much more do his friends go far from him! He pursueth [them with] words, [but] they are gone. Proverbs 19 8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: He that keepeth understanding shall find good. Proverbs 19 9 A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall perish. Proverbs 19 10 Delicate living is not seemly for a fool; Much less for a servant to have rule over princes. Proverbs 19 11 The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger; And it is his glory to pass over a transgression. Proverbs 19 12 The king`s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; But his favor is as dew upon the grass. Proverbs 19 13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father; And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. Proverbs 19 14 House and riches are an inheritance from fathers; But a prudent wife is from Jehovah. Proverbs 19 15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; And the idle soul shall suffer hunger. Proverbs 19 16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; [But] he that is careless of his ways shall die. Proverbs 19 17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto Jehovah, And his good deed will he pay him again. Proverbs 19 18 Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; And set not thy heart on his destruction. Proverbs 19 19 A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty; For if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again. Proverbs 19 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. Proverbs 19 21 There are many devices in a man`s heart; But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand. Proverbs 19 22 That which maketh a man to be desired is his kindness; And a poor man is better than a liar. Proverbs 19 23 The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life; And he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil. Proverbs 19 24 The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. Proverbs 19 25 Smite a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; And reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge. Proverbs 19 26 He that doeth violence to his father, and chaseth away his mother, Is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach. Proverbs 19 27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction [Only] to err from the words of knowledge. Proverbs 19 28 A worthless witness mocketh at justice; And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity. Proverbs 19 29 Judgments are prepared for scoffers, And stripes for the back of fools. |
